The Centre for Law, Policy and Governance, Nation First Policy Research Centre (NFPRC) is inviting applications for a paid internship to contribute to an ongoing research project on tribunal reforms in India.
The Centre is looking to engage two high-agency individuals as long-term hybrid interns for an initial tenure of 2 months, extendable up to 6 months based on performance and project requirements. This role offers rigorous exposure to constitutional, institutional, and policy dimensions of tribunal reform.
Project Focus
The project undertakes a deep and structured analysis of India’s tribunal system, with the objective of identifying legal, institutional, and administrative constraints that have historically limited reform efforts. The research aims to develop a credible, constitutionally consistent pathway for meaningful tribunal reform, drawing on judicial precedents, past reform attempts, comparative models, and policy design frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
• Reading and synthesising extensive materials including committee reports, judicial decisions, books, consultation papers, and policy briefs
• Researching historical and ongoing tribunal reform processes in India
• Preparing policy briefs, analytical notes, and structured research outputs
• Examining global practices relating to tribunal design and functioning
• Analysing comparative institutional and procedural reform models and assessing their relevance to India
Desired Candidate Profile
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong capacity to process large volumes of material and extract insights
• Structured thinking and clarity in organising arguments
• Comfort with analytical and policy-oriented writing
• Interest in institutional design, governance, and reform processes
Stipend
₹10,000 per month, extendable up to ₹25,000 per month based on performance

Hybrid, with periodic in-person engagement based on project needs
