About the Role

Alten Group operates through three subsidiaries/affiliate companies in India, with its Legal Team based in Bangalore. The India Legal Unit, under Global Legal Operations, delivers high-quality legal services including contract lifecycle management, regulatory and trade compliance, data governance, and digital transformation initiatives.

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a strategic role in supporting Alten India’s business operations by leading day-to-day legal activities, ensuring compliance with local and global regulations, and providing commercially pragmatic legal advice. This role requires strong leadership, deep contractual expertise, and the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional and international stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Team Leadership & Mentoring

Lead daily legal operations and drive collaboration within the legal team
Mentor and guide team members on complex legal and contractual issues
Maintain high standards of responsiveness, accuracy, and risk management

Contracting & Negotiation

Draft, review, negotiate, and revise commercial contracts across jurisdictions, with a focus on India, the US, and Germany
Identify legal and commercial risks and develop business-aligned mitigation strategies
Support legal evaluation and risk monitoring of new business initiatives

Stakeholder Communication & Business Support

Draft and review legal communications with customers, partners, and public authorities
Provide ongoing legal support to internal departments and project teams
Enable business objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, policies, and internal procedures

Compliance & Corporate Governance

Guide the legal team in implementing group-wide and local compliance programs through policies and trainings
Act as a Compliance Ambassador, covering areas such as:
- Data protection and privacy
- Anti-corruption and ethical conduct
- Export controls and trade sanctions
