About the Role:
The Ada Lovelace Institute is hiring a Researcher to support its mission to ensure that data and AI work for people and society. Working closely with the Public Participation and Research Practice Lead, the researcher will design, deliver, and support qualitative and participatory research, exploring how technologies affect communities across the UK. This role offers the chance to contribute to impactful research and shape emerging policy around AI and data-driven technologies.

Eligibility:

  • Strong background or interest in qualitative research, particularly in AI, data, and the societal impacts of technology.

  • Familiarity with a range of qualitative methodologies (e.g., interviews, deliberative methods, participatory action research).

  • Creative, collaborative, and adaptable, with the ability to communicate findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Open to early-career researchers seeking to influence policy and practice.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, deliver, and support qualitative and participatory research projects.

  • Collaborate with civil society organizations, communities, and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Advise on, or contribute to, research across other Directorates.

  • Translate research insights into actionable recommendations for policy and practice.
