The GNLU Student Law Review (GSLR), the flagship student-led publication of Gujarat National Law University, is accepting submissions for its upcoming Volume VII, scheduled to be published in June, 2026. The GSLR is an annual, student-edited, double-blind peer reviewed publication with regular collaboration with experts and practitioners in order to foster insightful legal discourse on contemporary legal developments and innovative legal solutions. Following the successful publication of Volume VI, the GSLR invites submissions of original and unpublished manuscripts addressing contemporary legal topics for its Volume VII. Call for Papers
The GSLR welcomes submissions of articles, book reviews, case notes and legislative comments offering comparative perspectives and interdisciplinary approaches to India’s evolving legal landscape. Submissions are welcomed from students, academicians, legal scholars and practitioners. The last date for contributing to Volume VII of the GSLR is Thursday, 25 December 2025.
Submission Categories
Submissions are welcome in all fields of law from students, academicians, legal scholars and practitioners. The following categories of submissions will be considered for publication:
- Article: Word limit between 4500-8000words. The authors should comprehensively engage with the foundation of the chosen topic, aiming to underline its relevance for present times through legal policy.
- Book Review: Word limit between 4500-8000words. Authors must extensively engage with the foundation of the chosen subject while aiming to underline the book’s relevance to modern legal policy.
- Case Note: Word limit between 2500-4500words. A case note would analyse recent judgment or landmark decision of Indian courts, informing on the background of the matter and substantive implications for future adjudication.
- Legislative Comment: Word limit between 2000-4000words. A legislative comment would examine legislation or bills before the Parliament or any State Legislature, facilitating a cross-jurisdictional comparative analysis and suggesting improvements.
Word limits, as provided above, are exclusive of footnotes. GSLR aims to strictly enforce the above word limits with an extension of maximum 500 words permissible, if it is justified with the quality of the submission.
Submission Guidelines
- Authorship: Co-authorship is permissible up to three co-authorsfor Articles. In case of other submission categories, a maximum of two co-authors is permitted.
- Originality: The GSLR requires exclusive submission. Authors must confirm through the submission form that the submitted manuscript has not been submitted for the consideration of another journal. Authors must undertake not to send the manuscript for consideration elsewhere until the GSLR has either accepted or rejected the submission.
- Editorial Policy: All submissions to the GSLR must be original and should not contain any plagiarised content. Please ensure that every source is properly referenced, and all contributors are cited. The University Grants Commission (Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations 2018, would be applicable in regards to the acceptable limits of plagiarism. All decisions of the Editorial Board would be final and may not be subject to further review. We expect authors to make suitable changes as suggested by the Editorial Board before final acceptance.
- AI Policy: The GSLR follows a strict AI policy. Authors may not useany type of AI for the generation of any substantive content or citations. However, AI is permissible to the limited extent of paper proof-reading and basic sentence re-structuring.
- Manuscript Structuring: The submission must mandatorily contain an abstract of 200-250 wordsalong with 4-5 keywords. The other essential components of the manuscript include an Introduction, Main Body containing the primary arguments, and Conclusion.
- Manuscript Submission: The GSLR onlyaccepts electronic submissions through the submission portal. The manuscript must be in .doc or .docx format. The submission must be anonymous should not contain the name of the author, institutional affiliation, or any other identification mark. Formatting Guidelines
- The authors must strictly adhere to the GSLR Style Guideto facilitate a faster turnaround.
- The main textof the submission must be in Garamond with font size 12 and line spacing 1.5 pts. The citations must be in Garamond with font size 10 and single line spacing.
- The footnotesmust be formatted in accordance with The Bluebook citation style (21st edition). Speaking and substantive footnotes are encouraged subject to proper justification for their use. The submission must not have any endnotes, bibliography or references. Authors are advised to use only footnotes.
