About:
The Centre for Migration Law (Radboud University), Institute for European Law (KU Leuven), and Staats- en bestuursrecht Universiteit van Amsterdam are jointly inviting paper proposals for a one-day academic workshop titled “The Promise of the Pact? What the EU Promised but the Pact on Migration and Asylum Does Not Deliver.” The event will be held on 22 May 2026 at Radboud University, Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
The workshop aims to critically examine the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, adopted in 2024, and explore the discrepancies between its promises and its actual implementation.
Eligibility:
Open to researchers at all career stages — from doctoral candidates to senior academics — working in the fields of European law, migration, asylum, and human rights.
Themes:
Participants are encouraged to submit abstracts addressing:

Gaps in the EU’s migration and asylum framework.

Challenges in implementation and policy coherence.

The role of member states and EU institutions in shaping outcomes.

Comparative or interdisciplinary perspectives on migration governance.
