Discover Global Society, an international peer-reviewed journal published by Springer Nature, invites submissions for its upcoming special collection titled “Digital Media, Social Change, and Cultural Identity in the Global South.” The issue explores how digital platforms—from Instagram and YouTube to community radio—reshape social change, cultural identity, and power relations across the Global South.

Theme and Scope:
The collection welcomes both conceptual and empirical research drawing from disciplines such as communication studies, political economy, digital ethnography, and postcolonial critique. Contributions may explore:

  • Digital activism and mediated resistance.

  • Algorithmic inequality, surveillance, and censorship.

  • Everyday digital practices and identity formation.

  • Virtual ethnographies of platforms like TikTok, Instagram, or WhatsApp.

  • Postcolonial perspectives on technology, power, and belonging.
