Utrecht University, in collaboration with Maastricht University, invites abstracts for the 14th Symposium for Young Penalists of the International Association of Penal Law (AIDP). The Symposium will be held on 9–10 April 2026 at Utrecht, Netherlands, under the theme “Criminal Law in the Age of Transitions: Between Sacred Cows and Core Values of Criminal Justice Systems.”
This event provides a unique platform for young scholars and practitioners to exchange ideas on how contemporary transitions—technological, social, and environmental—are reshaping the principles and purposes of criminal justice systems worldwide.
Eligibility:

Early-career researchers, PhD candidates, and young practitioners in criminal law and related disciplines.

Abstracts should clearly align with the Symposium’s core theme.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Selected participants will:

Present their research during panel discussions at the Symposium.
