The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a leading global network of policy research centers based in Washington, D.C., is inviting applications for the position of In-House Counsel. This full-time role offers a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of international policy and institutional governance within one of the world’s most respected think tanks.

Eligibility:
Applicants must hold a law degree and have a minimum of seven years of relevant legal experience. Prior experience in labor law or in managing union-related legal matters is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal, analytical, and written communication skills, with the ability to exercise sound legal judgment and provide strategic counsel to senior leadership.

Roles and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will:

  • Lead day-to-day legal matters related to union contract negotiations and implementation.

  • Oversee compliance with legal frameworks including FARA, GDPR, and nonprofit regulations.

  • Review contracts and advise on legal risks and governance matters.

  • Provide legal guidance on operations across Carnegie’s global centers.

  • Draft and implement internal legal policies and guidance materials.
