About the Position
NYUAD’s Program in Legal Studies, established in 2018, is an interdisciplinary program housed within the Social Sciences and Arts & Humanities Divisions. The program offers a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies, emphasizing both common law and civil law traditions while exploring law’s interaction with culture, ethics, history, and society.
NYUAD seeks legal scholars with active research agendas in any area of law, particularly those whose work includes international, comparative, or private law dimensions.
Eligibility and Qualifications

Applicants must hold a doctoral or equivalent degree in law or cognate fields (including J.D. or equivalent).

Strong record—or demonstrated potential—of research and scholarly publications.

Evidence of effective undergraduate teaching and commitment to liberal arts education.

For Associate Professor/Professor positions: candidates must have an established and internationally recognized research record.
Roles and Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate courses in Legal Studies, spanning areas such as tort, contract, property, and comparative law, and interdisciplinary themes.

Conduct high-quality research and publication in areas relevant to the program’s vision.

Mentor undergraduate students and contribute to curriculum development.
