The Centre for Australia-India Relations invites applications for the Maitri Scholarships and Fellowships Grant Programs 2025–26, an initiative designed to strengthen academic, policy, and institutional collaborations between Australia and India.
About the Program
The Maitri Fellowships aim to empower policy researchers and professionals by facilitating secondments with leading organisations across both nations. The program focuses on fostering bilateral cooperation, deepening institutional linkages, and contributing to public discourse on key economic, geostrategic, and diplomatic challenges.
Streams of the Fellowship

Inward Fellowships – Up to 12 months for Indian research professionals to work with Australian organisations.

Outward Fellowships – Up to 12 months for Australian fellows to collaborate with Indian institutions.

Two-way Fellowships – Up to 2 years of joint research exchange between an Australian and an Indian fellow.
Eligibility

Open to policy researchers, academics, and professionals with a strong record of scholarship and institutional engagement.

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to Australia–India relations and potential to contribute to bilateral policy or academic initiatives.
Funding Support
The program provides full financial support for fellows, including travel, living, and research-related expenses.
