About the Volume:
Faculty members Thiyagaraj Gurunathan and Rajbir Samal invite contributions for a proposed book exploring Gastrosubalternism, examining the intersections of food, ethics, and subaltern politics in Indian literature. Building on prior work that reinterpreted the adage “we are what we eat” as “we smell what we eat,” the volume seeks to explore how food practices intersect with identity, caste, and socio-political hierarchies in India. The book has already received expressions of interest from leading global academic publishers.
