The Irish Centre for Human Rights at the University of Galway, in collaboration with the Centre for Law, Religion and Society, is inviting applications for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Associate in Gender, Islam, and Access to Justice (Ref. No.: 011362).
About the Role:
This is a full-time, fixed-term position (October 1, 2025 – September 30, 2027) based at the University of Galway’s School of Law. The selected candidate will contribute to high-quality research exploring the intersections of gender, Islamic law, and access to justice, while working collaboratively across both the Irish Centre for Human Rights and the Centre for Law, Religion and Society.
Responsibilities:

Conduct independent and collaborative research aligned with the project’s themes.

Contribute to publications, workshops, and academic events.

Support the Centre’s teaching and outreach initiatives as required.

Engage with interdisciplinary networks and policy-relevant research on gender and justice.
Eligibility:

A completed (or near-completed) PhD in Law, Human Rights, Gender Studies, Islamic Studies, or related disciplines.

Demonstrated expertise in research related to gender, religion, and access to justice.

Strong academic writing and analytical skills.

Commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship and collaborative academic work.

University of Galway, School of Law – jointly hosted by the Irish Centre for Human Rights and the Centre for Law, Religion and Society.
Duration:
Full-time, fixed term (October 1, 2025 – September 30, 2027).
