About the UNFCCC Fellowship Programme
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is inviting applications for its 2025 Fellowship Programme. This is a fully funded opportunity designed for early to mid-career professionals from developing countries who are committed to advancing climate action. Selected fellows will gain immersive, hands-on experience in the international climate negotiation process and contribute meaningfully to global climate governance.
Eligibility
Applicants must be professionals from developing countries with early to mid-level experience in fields related to climate change, such as climate policy, adaptation, mitigation, international environmental law, or related disciplines. A strong academic and/or professional background in one or more of these areas is essential.
Roles and Responsibilities
Fellows will be hosted at the UNFCCC Secretariat in Bonn, Germany, where they will:

Contribute to the development and implementation of climate frameworks and strategies

Engage directly in UNFCCC processes, including negotiations and capacity-building initiatives

Work within thematic areas such as climate finance, transparency, loss and damage, carbon markets, and gender and climate policy

Collaborate with leading climate negotiators, UN agencies, and international experts

Support knowledge exchange and institutional strengthening efforts upon returning to their home countries
