Research Opportunity at IIM Lucknow

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow invites applications for the roles of Research Associate and Research Assistant for a research project titled:
“Platform Cooperatives and Knowledge Commons: Synthesis, Framework, and Findings from Case Studies.”

This pan-India research study involves extensive fieldwork, including travel across various regions to collect data and interact with stakeholders from selected organizations.

Position Details

1. Research Associate

Tenure: Up to 12 months
Salary: ₹30,000 to ₹36,000 per month (consolidated)
Qualifications: Postgraduate degree (MA/MSc) in Economic Geography, Economics, Sociology, Development Studies, Management, Rural Development, Digital Humanities, Computational Social Science, or other allied social science/humanities fields.
Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of relevant work experience is required.

2. Research Assistant

Tenure: Up to 6 months
Salary: ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 per month (consolidated)
Qualifications: Graduate degree in Economics, Sociology, Economic Geography, or allied Humanities and Social Science disciplines.
Experience: At least 1 year of prior experience is essential.

Role and Responsibilities

Conduct surveys, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions with stakeholders from key organizations.
Perform tasks such as data transcription, translation, data entry, and qualitative coding and analysis using software like NVivo, Atlas.ti, or Maxqda.
Travel and accommodation expenses for fieldwork will be reimbursed in accordance with institutional seed money project policies.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with a background in conducting field-based qualitative research—especially involving cooperatives, civil society groups, or community-based organizations—will be given preference. Experience with rural fieldwork and qualitative methodologies will be considered a significant advantage.
