About the Internship:

We are inviting applications from law and public policy students for a remote internship as Legislative Research Interns. This role offers a valuable opportunity to work directly with Members of Parliament (MPs) and gain practical experience in the fields of legislative research, policymaking, and governance.


Position Overview:

As a Legislative Research Intern, you will support MPs by:

  • Conducting research on ongoing legislation, policy matters, and governance challenges.

  • Drafting parliamentary questions, notices, letters, and policy briefs.

  • Gaining insight into how laws are shaped and policies are formulated at the national level.

  • Contributing to high-impact research that influences real-time decision-making.


Work Environment:

  • Mode: Fully remote (work-from-home)

  • Flexibility: Set your own work hours within the expected commitment, allowing for an ideal academic–work balance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research on legislation, policies, and political developments.

  • Draft parliamentary instruments such as questions, notices, and official correspondence.

  • Prepare concise, informative policy briefs and legal opinions.

  • Review bills and analyze their potential impact.

  • Engage with stakeholders including policy experts, civil society, and government officials.

  • Support MPs in framing effective, data-backed policy recommendations.

  • Summarize key findings into actionable insights.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong research and analytical skills: Ability to assess legal and policy issues thoroughly.

  • Excellent communication skills: Both written and verbal proficiency required.

  • Attention to detail: Essential for drafting and reviewing policy documents.

  • Proficiency in MS Office: Particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Interest in governance and policymaking: A strong passion for legislative work is a must.

  • Self-driven and organized: Capable of managing tasks independently and meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to handle pressure: Comfortable with a fast-paced and intellectually demanding work environment.


Duration and Stipend:

  • Duration: 1 to 2 months

  • Time Commitment: Minimum 5 hours per day, 6 days a week

  • Stipend: ₹3,000 – ₹5,000 per month (performance-based)
