About RGNUL
Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, was established in 2006 under the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab Act. As a University of national stature, RGNUL is committed to providing comprehensive legal education and contributing to legal excellence in India.
About CADR
The Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR) at RGNUL aims to promote research and student engagement in ADR mechanisms including Arbitration, Mediation, Negotiation, and Conciliation. CADR endeavors to strengthen the ADR framework in India through academic and practical exposure.
About SEMC
Now in its 7th edition, the Sports and Entertainment Law Mediation Competition (SEMC) is India’s premier student mediation competition focused on the intersection of sports, entertainment, and dispute resolution. It challenges participants to resolve legal disputes using collaborative and strategic ADR skills.
Competition Format
- Mode: In-Person
- Structure:
- Multiple Preliminary Rounds
- Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and a Final Round
- Team Composition:
- Client-Counselor Pair (Negotiating Team)
- One Mediator
- Note: Universities can request to send more than one team by writing to cadr@rgnul.ac.in. Allocation of extra slots is subject to availability and at CADR’s discretion.
Registration Process
- Provisional Registration Deadline: 7th April 2025
- Final Registration Fee: ₹9000/- per team (exclusive of GST)
- Includes accommodation, food, and logistics
- Non-refundable upon payment
- Mode of Final Registration:
- Only upon selection and approval
- A separate link for final registration and payment will be emailed
- Role Allocation: Roles (Client, Counsel, Mediator) must be pre-assigned and will remain fixed throughout the competition
- Changes only with prior approval from the Organising Committee
