Note Writing Competition
Organized by the IPR Cell, UPES Dehradun
On the occasion of World IP Day – 26th April 2025
Theme: “IP and Music: Feel the Beat of IP”
About the Competition
The IPR Cell, UPES is pleased to announce a Note Writing Competition to celebrate World IP Day on 26th April 2025, in alignment with the theme declared by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) — “IP and Music: Feel the Beat of IP.”
This year’s theme emphasizes the essential role of intellectual property (IP) in shaping the music industry by protecting the rights of artists, producers, and innovators. It underscores how copyright protects compositions and recordings, trademarks help build unique artist identities, and patents foster technological advancements in music production and distribution.
As the industry evolves with the rise of AI-generated music, digital piracy, and changing streaming models, new legal challenges emerge—demanding a balance between creator protection, accessibility, and innovation. The theme also invites critical exploration of IP’s role in preserving cultural heritage and adapting to digital transformations.
In this context, we invite students, research scholars, and academicians to submit analytical, original notes based on this year’s theme. Let your writing reflect how IP law can shape a harmonious future for music and creators.
