Job Title: Head of Trade Mark and Copyright Prosecution (Non-Contentious)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney for the position of a Principal Associate who will head up our trademark and copyright practice (non-contentious). The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of non-contentious trade mark and copyright prosecution, including strategic advice on availability of marks for registration and use, risk assessment, all other type of advisory work on trade marks and copyrights, trade mark and copyright filings, responding to objections, hearings at the Trade Mark Registry and Copyright Office, and all aspects of portfolio management in India. Also, the role will involve overseeing all foreign trade mark and copyright prosecution work. In addition, and very importantly, the candidate must have confidence, be open to strategizing business development initiatives with the Managing Partner, have strong leadership and managerial skills, and the ability to work with clients, internal stakeholders, the Registry, Copyright Office and foreign associates.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage the trade mark and copyright non-contentious prosecution team, providing guidance and training as necessary.
2. Oversee the filing, prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement of trade marks worldwide.
3. Develop and implement trade mark protection strategies aligned with business objectives.
4. Advise internal stakeholders and clients on trade mark registration and portfolio management.
5. Liaise with external counsel globally.
6. Monitor legislative changes and industry trends, ensuring compliance with evolving trade mark laws and regulations.
7. Oversee trade mark searches, clearance, and risk assessments.
8. Manage budgets and resources efficiently within the trade mark prosecution department.
9. Work collaboratively with marketing, legal, and commercial teams to ensure cohesive brand protection strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:
LLB from a recognized university and has good experience with a law firm
