World Bank Legal Internship Program – Fall 2025
About the Internship
The World Bank Legal Vice Presidency offers a highly prestigious legal internship for motivated law students, providing exposure to international law, development finance, and policy work at one of the world’s leading financial institutions.
The Legal Internship Program (LIP) allows students to contribute new perspectives, innovative ideas, and recent research to the World Bank’s operations while enhancing their legal skills in a multicultural environment.
Interns will collaborate with senior management and legal professionals while contributing to high-profile legal matters, policy development, and conferences.
Eligibility Criteria
- Citizenship of any IBRD member state.
- Enrolled in a law degree (LL.B., J.D., LL.M., S.J.D., Ph.D., or equivalent) during the internship period (i.e., between September–November 2025).
- Excellent command of English.
- Preference for candidates with proficiency in an additional IBRD working language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish.
International students and U.S.-based students are equally encouraged to apply.
Internship Duration & Structure
- Fall 2025 Internship Period: September – November 2025 (10-12 weeks).
- Application Window: April 1 – April 30, 2025.
- Location: World Bank Headquarters, Washington, D.C. (with limited placements in selected country offices).
- Part-time (20 hours/week) allowed for students enrolled in part-time/evening law programs or OPT-authorized students.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research on various international and comparative law issues.
- Analyze and summarize legal materials, case law, and policy documents.
- Draft legal memoranda, reports, and briefs under the supervision of World Bank legal experts.
- Assist in international development finance projects and policy initiatives.
- Support in organizing high-level legal conferences and events.
- Engage in legal discussions on global governance, international contracts, and dispute resolution.
