About IFPD:
Indian Forum for Public Diplomacy (IFPD) is a not-for-profit, non-partisan, youth-driven think- and-do-tank that advocates civilian-led strategic culture in India, with the aim of aiding foreign policy thinking through young academia. We are a youth advocacy forum focused on creating a world that recognizes the nuances of strategic and diplomatic challenges through the influential impact of public diplomacy and people-to-people relations. By putting foreign policy in the landscape of people, the forum engages to bring forth initiatives to drive foreign policy and reform through national and international citizens, encourage civilian-led strategic studies, and enhance people to people relations through research, opinion, dialogue, discourse, and debate to catalyze a new consensus to the world and enhance India’s Public Diplomacy.
About the Bootcamp:
The issue of state responsibility and the role of international institutions and organizations in addressing asylum seekers and refugees is a critical and evolving aspect of global governance. It encompasses the moral and legal obligations of nations to protect individuals fleeing persecution, violence, or disaster. With rising displacement due to conflicts, climate change, and political instability, the responsibility of states to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees has become increasingly urgent. This issue has gained prominence in contemporary international relations, given the growing number of refugees worldwide. The challenges extend beyond host countries to the broader international community, emphasizing the necessity for shared responsibility and solidarity. State responsibility extends beyond merely offering safe haven to refugees. It also includes ensuring access to fundamental rights such as freedom of movement, healthcare, and education. These rights must be protected while refugees await permanent solutions or resettlement. International organizations, particularly the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), play a crucial role in supporting states by coordinating refugee assistance, ensuring legal protections, facilitating resettlement programs, and promoting international cooperation. Understanding the complexities of refugee protection, including the balance between national interests and human rights, is essential for shaping future policies. As global crises continue to unfold, academic fields such as international relations, law, and human rights will offer critical insights into how states and international organizations can respond to emerging challenges in a humane and effective way.
