About the University

About the Department of Law
The Post-graduate course in the department started in the year 2013, presently CBCS Course pattern is followed in the 2-Year LL.M Program. The Department offers specialization in Business Law. The Department regularly organizes events of national level for fostering legal growth in the academic environment. The research degrees in the field of law are conferred in order to produce better academicians. The master’s studies in the field of law polish the existing knowledge of the students, and the doctoral degree focuses on legal research. The Department of Law, Aliah University is among the few institutions in the country that impart research-based education in higher legal studies.

Overview
The Department of Law, Aliah University, Kolkata, in collaboration with AUDLAA, is hosting the 6th National Level Seminar on “Protecting the Rights of Vulnerable Class in India.” The event aims to explore recent key developments and offer practical insights to deepen attendees’ understanding. The seminar seeks to promote the sharing of insights and viewpoints on the Indian Constitution among academicians, legal professionals, practitioners, human rights advocates, and experts from various domains.

Objectives
The seminar aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and perspectives on protecting the rights of the vulnerable and marginalized classes among educators, legal experts, practitioners, human rights activists, and individuals in their respective fields.

Who is it for?
All students, academicians, research scholars, lawyers, and other interested candidates are eligible to participate in the seminar.

Location
The seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Aliah University, Park Circus Campus, 17 Gora Chand Road, Kolkata—700014.

  • Rights of Minorities: Religious, Linguistic, Ethnic, etc.
  • The Rights of the LGBTQ+ Communities in India
  • Economic and Social Marginalization of SCs and STs
  • The Role of NGOs and Civil Society in Advocating for Vulnerable Groups
  • The Impact of Globalization and Privatization on Vulnerable Communities
  • Digital Divide and the Rights of the Underprivileged in the Digital Age
  • Refugees, Stateless Persons, and Migrant Workers: Legal and Social Challenges
  • Environmental Justice and Displacement of Indigenous Communities
  • Cyber Crimes, Women’s Safety, and Child Protection: Legal Remedies and Challenges
  • Any other topic related to protecting the rights of the vulnerable class in India

  • Word limit for Abstract: 250-300 words
  • Word limit for Full Paper: 3000-5000 words
  • Font: Times New Roman (Size 12, 1.5 Spacing)
  • File Type: MS Word
