About the Organiser
Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth (TMV), established in 1921, was recognized as a “Deemed to be University” by the Government of India in 1987 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. The university offers programs across multiple disciplines, including Ayurveda, Sanskrit, Social Sciences, Modern Sciences & Professional Skills, Management, Health Sciences, Law, and Distance Education.
TMV’s Lokmanya Tilak Law College, founded in 2012, is approved by the Bar Council of India. The college offers B.A. LL.B (5-year), B.B.A. LL.B (5-year), LL.B (3-year), and LL.M (2-year) programs. With a commitment to academic excellence, ethical values, and social responsibility, the institution’s curriculum extends beyond academics to address evolving corporate and societal needs.
About the Moot Court Competition
Lokmanya Tilak Law College aims to enhance students’ legal acumen and research skills by providing a platform to explore emerging legal issues. The college organized the 1st National Moot Court Competition in 2021, held on 13th and 14th August, focusing on Human Rights. It saw participation from prestigious institutions such as ICFAI University, Dehradun; Jindal Global Law School; Maharashtra National Law University, Aurangabad; Gujarat National Law University; and Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad.
- The event was inaugurated by Dean Adv. Harshad Nimbarkar, with a keynote address by Justice Dharmadhikari (Former Chief Justice, Bombay High Court).
- The final round was contested between VM Salgaocar College of Law, Goa, and Institute of Law, Kurukshetra University, Haryana, and was adjudicated by Senior Advocate Rohan Nahar and Justice Makarand Karnik (Bombay High Court).
- Winners: VM Salgaocar College of Law, Goa.
- Best Memorial: Maharashtra National Law University, Aurangabad.
- Best Mooter: Manvi Srivastava, VES College of Law, Mumbai.
The 2nd Edition of the Bal Gangadhar Tilak National Moot Court Competition was conducted online on 22nd & 23rd April 2022, with a moot proposition on Marital Rape.
- The event was inaugurated by Justice Ambadar Joshi.
- Winners: Vishwakarma University, Pune.
- Runner-up: Savitha School of Law.
- Best Mooter: Vishwakarma University.
- Best Memorial: Govt. College, Trichy.
- The Valedictory Session was presided over by Dr. Vishwambar Choudhary.
The 3rd Edition (2023), held online on 7th & 8th April, focused on Anti-Defection Laws.
- The competition was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice Joshi Phansalkar (Former Judge, Bombay High Court).
- Winners: Vishwakarma University, Pune.
- Runner-up: University Law College, Bangalore.
- Best Memorial: PES University.
- Best Mooter: Symbiosis Law School, Pune.
- The Valedictory Session was led by Hon’ble Justice Neela Gokhale (Sitting Judge, Bombay High Court).
The 4th Edition (2024), conducted in a Hybrid Mode on 12th & 13th April, addressed communal conflicts and received nationwide participation.
- Chief Guest: Hon’ble Justice Joshi Phansalkar (Former Judge, Bombay High Court).
- Winners: DES Navmal Firodia Law College, Pune.
- Runner-up: Symbiosis Law School, Pune.
- Best Memorial: Ismail Sahib Mulla Law College, Satara.
- Best Mooter: University Law College, Utkal University.
With immense pride, TMV’s Lokmanya Tilak Law College announces the 5th Edition of the Bal Gangadhar Tilak National Moot Court Competition, scheduled for 28th & 29th March 2025 in an innovative hybrid format.
Competition Structure
The competition will include the following rounds:
- Preliminary Rounds
- Semi-Final Rounds
- Final Round
Language
The official language for all rounds of the competition is English.
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to students pursuing 3-year or 5-year LL.B courses.
- Each institute is permitted to send only one team.
Team Composition
- Each team must consist of three (3) members:
- Two (2) Speakers
- One (1) Researcher
- All members must be from the same institute. Cross-institute teams are not allowed.
- The Researcher may argue only in exceptional cases, with prior written approval from the Moot Court Convener.
- No team may have more than 3 members, and no additional observers are permitted.
- Once registered, team substitutions are not allowed without the Organizers’ permission.
Dress Code
For Courtroom Proceedings & Ceremonies
- Girls: White shirt, black trousers, black blazer, and black shoes.
- Boys: White shirt, black trousers, black tie, black blazer, and black shoes.
Registration Details
- Registration Fee: ₹3000/- per team.
- Deadline for Registration: 24th March 2025, 11:30 PM (IST).
- Registration Process:
- Submit a Google Form with complete team details.
- Pay the fee via NEFT.
- No changes in team composition after registration without Organizers’ approval.
- Teams will receive a unique Team Code for anonymity.
- Team codes must be used in all submissions and rounds.
- Accommodation for offline participants must be arranged at their own expense.
