About the Conference:
Human rights are the foundation of a just and equitable society, ensuring dignity, freedom, and fairness for all. Gender justice is an essential part of this framework, as it seeks to dismantle systemic inequalities and create a world where every individual can thrive, regardless of their identity. Gender justice being a crucial part of these conversations, plays a key role in shaping discussions around equality and social progress. However, focusing on gender alone often overlooks the complex realities of individuals who face multiple, overlapping forms of discrimination. Intersectionality helps us understand how caste, religion, disability, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status combine to shape people’s experiences of privilege and oppression in India. The international conference on “Beyond Gender: Navigating the Intersectionality of Justice in India,” organized by the Centre for Family Law & Research, School of Law, Bennett University will provide a platform for academicians, professionals, practitioners, researchers, NGOs, students of law and allied social sciences, and other stakeholders to engage in open dialogue and collaboration, aiming to drive meaningful change for marginalized communities.
Call for papers:
We invite original research work in the form of research papers, research articles, book reviews and case commentaries from academicians, professionals, practitioners, researchers, students of law and allied social sciences, and other stakeholders on emerging issues and related areas on the broad sub-themes given below.
Themes:
- The role of intersectionality in Indian feminist and social justice movements
- Impact of caste and economic inequality on gender justice
- LGBTQ+ Rights and Intersectionality in India
- Gender, disability and access to healthcare
- Media, Representation and Intersectionality
- Technology, Digital Rights, and Intersectional Discrimination
- Climate Change and Gender Justice
- Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality
- Labor Laws and the Protection of Women Workers
- Personal Laws, Religion, and Women’s Rights
- Reproductive Rights and Bodily Autonomy
- Gender-based Violence
- Gender, Sex and Human Rights
- Gender, Sports and Media
Research work on any other sub-theme aligned with the main theme and its objectives may also be submitted.
Formatting Guidelines /Submission Guidelines:
Submission of Abstract
The abstract should be between 300-500 words and clearly indicate the theme of the proposed research, along with five relevant keywords. It must be accompanied by a cover page containing the following details:
- Title of the Research Work
- Name of the Author(s)
- Designation
- E-mail Address
- Contact Number
- Co-authorship is permitted (maximum of two authors).
- Abstract should be submitted in MS Word format.

Guidelines for Full-Research Work Submission:
- Word Limit: 5000 to 8000 words (excluding footnotes and abstract).
- Citation Format: APA (7th Edition).
- Formatting:
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font Size: 12 (Headings: 14)
- Line Spacing: 5
- Footnotes : Times New Roman, Font size 10, 1.0 single line spacing
- Plagiarism: Should not exceed 10%.
Note: The extended abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings with an ISBN number, and selected full papers will be published in an edited book with a reputed publisher.
Registration Fees:
- Students– 1000 INR
- Research Scholars/Academicians/advocates etc.– 1500 INR
- Students from Bennett University – No fees.

Note: Participants are required to register for this International Conference once they receive an acceptance mail for their abstract from the organizing committee. The details of registration will share in the abstract acceptance mail.
