About NLUO [POSTPONED INDEFINITELY]
National Law University Odisha, the prestigious institution, is situated at the confluence of the Mahanadi and the Kathajodi rivers in the Millennium City or the Silver City of Cuttack. This legal temple was established by Act IV of 2008 by the Odisha State Legislature. Since its inception in 2008, the institution has continuously endeavored to achieve thriving excellence and produce bright minds in the legal and other associated arenas. It has painted a blazing picture of cultural diversity as a pan-India institute that equally treats all students to realize their true potential. Academic and non-academic co-curricular activities have been given proportionate importance for the overall development of the students.
About the Policy Drafting Competition
In collaboration with Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy and LexTech– Centre for Law, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, the Policy Drafting Competition at Lexathon 2025 invites students to engage in comprehensive legal and policy research, crafting innovative policy solutions for contemporary issues in technology law. The competition aims to bridge the gap between legal academia and policy making, encouraging students to propose well-reasoned, implementable policy recommendations.
The problem statement for this competition focuses on Child Safety in Digital Spaces and has been drafted by Ms. Kriti Trehan, Founder of Data & Co – Law & Policy Advisors. She has previously served as Global Payments and Privacy Head at Netflix and Amazon.
Why Participate?
The Policy Drafting Competition offers students a unique opportunity to propose original policy solutions, gain recognition from leading experts, and secure internships at top institutions excelling at Policy. As part of Lexathon 2025, participants will also have access to panel discussions, policy competitions, and networking sessions with legal-tech leaders, making this event an invaluable learning and career-building opportunity.
Eligibility & Team Composition
- Open to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law students, including those enrolled in integrated law programs, from recognized universities.
- Participation is permitted to teams of two (cross-institutional teams allowed).
- No limit on the number of teams registering from a single institution.
Competition Format
- The registered participants will be selected on First come, First served basis, and will have to submit the proposal on the Problem statement upon confirmation.
- The Top 8 entries will be invited to present their policy drafts at Lexathon 2025 at NLUO, Cuttack before an esteemed panel of industry experts, policymakers, and legal professionals.
Submission Guidelines & Registration
- The detailed submission guidelines are provided in the Rulebook, along with the brochure and problem statement are available in the drive here.
- Students must first register via the Google Form here.
- The submission by the confirmed participants shall be made before 04th March, 2025 through a submission link which will be shared after the confirmation of registration.
Registration Fees
The registration fee for each team is ₹6000, which includes accommodation.
Payment Guidelines
- The payment shall be made via SB Collect. The detailed procedure has been attached in the rulebook and the brochure.
- Ensure that you download the receipt after the payment to attach as proof in the registration form.
- Mention “Lexathon 2025: Policy Drafting” under name of the event/remarks for better transparency and convenience.
