Call for Papers – National Conference on Gender Justice

 About St. Joseph’s College of Law (SJCL)

St. Joseph’s College of Law, Bengaluru, is South Asia’s First Jesuit Law College, approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and affiliated with Karnataka State Law University, Hubbali. Established in 2017-18, SJCL is committed to legal education that upholds justice and fairness in society.


 About the Conference

SJCL is hosting a National Conference on “Gender Justice – Contemporary Issues and Emerging Challenges” on May 9, 2025 in Hybrid Mode.

Mode of Presentation:

  • Offline (In-Person): Mandatory for participants residing in Bengaluru.
  • Online (Hybrid): Available only for participants outside Bengaluru.

Conference Focus:
The conference will explore gender justice, addressing contemporary challenges, legal frameworks, and policy recommendations necessary for a just and equal society.


 Conference Objectives

Promoting Gender Justice: Identifying legal, social, and economic barriers.
Research & Development: Encouraging academic discourse on gender issues.
Policy Recommendations: Strengthening gender equality through legal reforms.
Raising Awareness: Advocating for gender rights and inclusive environments.


 Themes & Sub-Themes

Main Theme: “Gender Justice – Issues and Emerging Challenges”

Sub-Themes:
Gender and Law: Legal frameworks for gender justice.
Gender Discrimination in the Workplace: Barriers to equality in employment and leadership.
Violence against Women & Marginalized Genders: Legal mechanisms for protection.
LGBTQ+ Rights and Recognition: Legal recognition and protection of gender minorities.
Reproductive Rights & Gender Justice: Access to healthcare as a fundamental right.
Gender in Education: The role of education in promoting/hindering gender equality.

 Call for Papers

SJCL invites academicians, jurists, professionals, students, researchers, activists, and policymakers to contribute original research papers on the conference theme.

 Submission Guidelines

Abstract: Max 250 words + 5 keywords.
Word Limit (Final Paper): 2500-3000 words (excluding citations).
Formatting:

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Size: 12 (Body), 16 (Headings), 14 (Subheadings), 10 (Footnotes)
  • Spacing: 1.5 (Main Text), 1.0 (Footnotes)
    Citation Style: Harvard Bluebook (20th Edition).
    Manuscript Format: MS Word (.doc/.docx).
    Plagiarism Limit: Max 10% similarity (as per UGC rules).
    Co-Authorship: Max 2 authors (Both must register separately).

Paper Presenters:500 per paper (Co-authors must register separately but need not pay extra).
Attendees:500 per person.
