About the Course

This foundational course in Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) tools and techniques teaches participants how to find, collect, and analyze data from the Internet. It’s designed for law students, legal professionals, law enforcement officers, and others interested in cybercrime investigation and digital forensics. The course is enhanced with hands-on bootcamp exercises (over 30 practical labs) and will teach participants the OSINT framework necessary to gather and use online information effectively.

  • Law students, legal professionals, law enforcement officers, etc.

  • Graduates or those currently pursuing graduation are eligible to register.


Course Modules

Day 1: Cyber Laws and OSINT Basics

  • Cyber Laws and Cyber Crimes: Hacking, cyber terrorism, pornography, ISP liability, and case studies

  • Electronic Evidence & Admissibility: Section 65B of the Indian Evidence Act

  • Digital Forensics and Cyber Crime Scene Management

  • OSINT Fundamentals: What is OSINT, social media analysis, technical aspects of social media frameworks

  • Lab 1: Hands-on with Autopsy, a digital forensics tool; tracing fake profiles on social media

Day 2: Tools and Engines for OSINT

  • SOCMINT (Social Media Intelligence): Web search engines, disposable search engines, and their impact on social media analytics

  • Tools: FOCA, Cree.py, Maltego

  • Lab 2: Build a Google Custom Search Engine for SOCMINT analysis

Day 3: Technical Scenarios and Use Cases

  • Counter Intelligence & Defenses: Fake news, stock market manipulation, and more

  • Real-World Scenarios: Volkswagen emissions scandal, Mossack Fonseca leak, etc.

  • Lab 3: Intelligence gathering on an organization

  • Final Lab Assessment Test (FLAT)


Certification

  • Certificate of Completion for those who score at least 50% on the assessment test

  • Certificate of Participation for all others
