About the Nani Palkhivala Memorial Tax Moot Court Competition
The Nani Palkhivala Memorial Tax Moot Court Competition honors the legacy of Mr. Nani Palkhivala, one of India’s most esteemed legal minds. A distinguished lawyer, author, diplomat, and tax law expert, he played a pivotal role in shaping Indian taxation laws.
This annual national tax moot competition, hosted by SASTRA University’s School of Law, serves as a tribute to his exceptional advocacy skills, strategic thinking, and deep understanding of law.
Theme

Eligibility
- Open to students enrolled in three-year LLB or five-year integrated LLB programs at any recognized university in India.
- Each team must consist of two speakers and one researcher.
Registration Fee
- Rs. 3540 per team, payable via National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT) before 12th March 2025.
Prizes and Awards
- Winner: Trophy + Rs. 50,000 cash prize
- Runner-Up: Trophy + Rs. 25,000 cash prize
- Best Memorial: Trophy + Rs. 5,000 cash prize
- Best Speaker: Trophy + Rs. 5,000 cash prize
- Best Researcher: Trophy + Rs. 5,000 cash prize

- Final Registration Deadline: 17 February 2025
- Memorial Submission Deadline: 1 March 2025
- Registration Fee Payment Deadline: 12 March 2025
- Pre-Quarter and Quarter-Final Rounds (Online): 15-16 March 2025
- Semi-Finals and Finals (Offline at SASTRA University): 22-23 March 2025
Registration Process

- Registration covers participation in the memorial round, based on which selections for the oral rounds will be made.

- A copy of the registration fee invoice must be submitted to sms.nani@sastra.ac.in.
