About the Breakthrough
Breakthrough Trust in partnership with L’Oréal Paris started the bystander intervention program Stand-Up in Lucknow and Delhi-NCR.
Breakthrough is an organization with a mission to make violence and discrimination against women and girls unacceptable by building a generation of gender-sensitive adolescents and young adults.Â
About the Event
Violence and discrimination against women and girls in India have been increasing day by day. Women are being subjected to discrimination and violence at home, in public spaces as well as the workplace. According to the NCRB-2018 report, around 3.78 lakh cases of crime have been registered against women across the country. Owing to these factors, a significant number of our population feels unsafe both in private as well as public spaces.Â
This program is designed to encourage people to break the silence and intervene in Sexual harassment to create a world wherein every individual can live a life with dignity, equality, and justice.Â
About the Trainer
Born and brought up in Lucknow, Ms. Sana Ummeed has always felt connected to the language, culture, and art. She was always intrigued by human relationships and their behavioral pattern in society. As a result, she joined Breakthrough India since she felt that her aims matched the organization’s motives. And now after taking proper training conducted by Hollaback USA on bystander intervention, she is currently a certified trainer at Breakthrough. And now she delivers sessions to the masses thus training them on the same. She was also invited by the University of Bath, England to present her views on their ongoing research wherein they are trying to use virtual reality tools to combat harassment.Â
From time to time Breakthrough has actively been organizing various campaigns by which it tries to sensitize people and make them aware against all forms of violence faced by women daily.Â
Sana also contributes to various newspapers, websites, and magazines as a freelance content writer. And apart from creating awareness regarding street harassment she also creates content on YouTube.
